    Dear gentlemen, hello!

Here is a very particular question: would somebody tell me which is the name of the ORIGINAL label which recorded in Berlin on 78rpm Dinu Lipatti in his Concertino op.3 with conductor Hans von Benda ? I suppose it is not Electrecord or Philips !!…

    With my best wishes,

    Michel

Hello! It appears that the label on 78s was a label (I believe Romanian) called Discoteca … That is all the information I have – I have never seen original 78s of these recordings. On 33rpm they were released on Electrocord.

      All best wishes,

      Mark

  • Tibbaut M.

    Many thanks, Mark!

What do you think about the audio quality of the new Lipatti album Profil Hänssler PH17011 (12CDs) for the 100th Anniversary? I wrote them precisely about this Concertino because of a defect in his 3rd mvt Allegretto, the same defect one can find on YouTube!!:

    “Dear Sir,
In your new box set Dinu Lipatti, why did you choose for your transfer of the Concertino op.3, a bad edition where in the Allegretto, CD 2 – track 10, the anacrusis from the very beginning of the movement is brutally missing?”

    With my best wishes,

    Michel

Apologies for my delay… I wrote a review on this page about the set. Unfortunately the sound isn’t great and they simply copied pre-existing CDs and refiltered them, not always with great success. It is certainly wonderful to have all his available recordings in one box set but the production isn’t as high as one might have hoped for…
